Margot Oviedo

Margot’s funeral mass will be held on October 11 at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi.

Margot Oviedo entered eternal rest on August 17, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at age 66. She was born on September 13, 1958, in San Antonio to Lydia Elizondo Oviedo and Rodolfo Arturo Oviedo. Margot was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elton Jackson; her mother, Lydia Elizondo Oviedo; her father, Rodolfo Arturo Oviedo; and her brother-in-law, Ryan Fletcher. Margot will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family, friends, and animals.

Margot earned a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Her professional achievements and contributions impacted the Texas Workforce Commission and three scholarly research departments at UTSA. One of her professional highlights was from 2010 to 2012, when she coordinated and directed the administration of Read Malawi. Read Malawi was a grant-funded UTSA research project program sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and others, aimed at making books available to young and beginning readers in schools in Malawi. This endeavor included visiting recipients of Read Malawi in East Africa.

Margot is survived by her siblings Ralph Oviedo (Wendy, spouse), Theresa "Nina" Oviedo (Bryan Collins, spouse), Sonia Oviedo, Noemi Oviedo Wade (Jeff Wade, spouse), Art Oviedo (Liza Aguirre-Oviedo, spouse); nephews, Noah Oviedo (J.R., spouse), Dominic Oviedo (Denie, spouse), Brodie Collins (Katie Higgins, spouse), and Kit Collins; nieces, Randi Krawczyk (Jeff, spouse) and Nicolette Oviedo Jorgensen (Erik, spouse), and many cousins including her cherished family in Mexico.
