Francis’ funeral will be held on October 2 at 11:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi.
Francis Peter "Frank" Ward was born on October 26, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey, and passed away in San Antonio, Texas, on September 21, 2025.
Frank never knew a stranger as many people can attest to. Frank had several illustrious careers during his life. He retired as a police officer from New Jersey law enforcement after 25 years of service in various townships. He also retired from the Bexar County DA's Office where he was a lead investigator in the White-Collar Crime Division. He later served the US State Department fulfilling a mission with the United Nations International Police in Kosovo for two years, and then as a mentor to the Secretary of the Interior in Afghanistan for four years.
Frank proudly served his country. He first served in the United States Marine Corps for five years. He then served in the United States Army Reserves, Military Police for 21 years retiring as a Master Sergeant.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Richard F. and Margaret Ward; his son, Richard H. Ward; his brother Richard T. Ward; and his sister, Mary Ellen LaBruto. Frank is survived by the following people. His wife, Dana Ward. His children; son Andrew Ward (Karen), son Mike Ward (Nicole), daughter Donna Faust (Don), son Joesph Ward (Melissa), and step-son Wes Hughes. His siblings Joe Ward (Beth), and Marguerite Hacik. Frank was also blessed with 11 grandchildren whom he adored and loved dearly, four greatgrandsons whom he loved and was so excited about, many family members, and many friends who were like family.
The family requests no flowers! Frank preferred donations be made to one of his three favorite charities which are St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, Shriner's Hospital, or Tunnel for Towers.
