Olga Olivia Navarrete

Olga’s Funeral Mass will be held on May 9, 2026 at 9:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Olga Olivia Navarrete, 81, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away on April 15, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas.

Olga was born on October 9, 1944, in Chihuahua, Mexico to Alfonso Bafidis and Elfida Garcia. She moved to Pecos, Texas where she spent her formative years. She often spoke fondly of that time—of the long days, eating summer cantaloupes cooled by the Pecos river, and the deep bonds she shared with her brother Alfonso and sister Sofia.

After graduating from Pecos High School with honors, Olga was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Texas at El Paso. While there, she was talked into going on a blind date where she met her future husband, John. That night, they sat on the steps talking until sunrise—beginning a partnership made in heaven.

Olga began her career in education before John joined the FBI as a Special Agent. Together, they built a life rooted in family and service, raising their three sons—John, Dan, and Michael—as they moved across the country following John’s work assignments that took them from Florida to New Jersey to Puerto Rico and to Washington, DC and back to Texas.

After years devoted to raising her children, Olga returned to work and built her own successful career with the FBI. Starting as a language tester, she steadily worked her way into upper management, eventually serving as the Assistant Unit Chief of the Language Services division in Washington, DC.

In retirement, Olga settled in San Antonio, Texas, where she spent her days close to family, tending to her garden, and keeping up with her beloved (and often mischievous) dog, Max.

Olga is survived by her children John Joseph Navarrete and spouse Flavia Navarrete, Dan Navarrete and spouse Christina Navarrete, Michael Navarrete and spouse Pearl Navarrete, and her grandchildren, Victoria, Madeline, John Carlo, John Diego, Sevilla, and Isabelle.

Olga will be remembered for her fierce commitment to her family, her unwavering love and devotion to her husband, and for always being the rock for the family in times of need and celebration.
