Eileen Marie Mitchell

Eileen’s Funeral service will take place on January 30 at 11:30 am in the Day Chapel.

Eileen Marie Mitchell, born Eileen Marie Lobas on May 24, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, was called home on January 22, 2026, after a life filled with faith, love, and devotion to family.

As a young child, Eileen moved with her family to California, where she spent much of her formative years. She began her working life as a bank teller in her father’s bank, a place that would forever change her life. It was there that she met John Mitchell, the man who would become her beloved husband and lifelong partner. Their love was deep and enduring—so profound that John chose to convert to Eileen’s faith, a testament to the strength of their bond.

Eileen and John were blessed with two wonderful children, John and Christina (“Tina”) Booth, and together they embraced a life marked by adventure and devotion to family. Over the years, they lived up and down the West Coast—beginning in California, spending a couple of years in Washington State, and then returning to Poway, California—before moving to Texas in the early 1980s and finally settling in San Antonio in 1986.

Eileen was happiest when her home was full. She loved the many young people who flowed through her house as her children grew up, always welcoming them with warmth and care. Her faith was central to her life, and she was deeply involved in and devoted to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, which she cherished. Christmas held a special place in her heart—a season she embraced with joy, tradition, and love for bringing family together.

Eileen was preceded in death by her loving husband, John, in 2010, whom she missed dearly. She is survived by her son John Mitchell (Monica); her daughter Christina “Tina” Booth (Mark); and her three beloved grandchildren, Aaron, Eva, and Erika, who brought her immense pride and happiness.

Eileen will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, generous heart, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.
