Our mother, Carmen O. Gonzalez, was called home on April 20, 2025. Although we will truly miss her, we are gratef ul she is now in eternal peace with our God Almighty.
Carmen is preceded in death by her loving parents, Ref ugio and Irene Ojeda, her husband, Carlos M. Gonzalez, and her brothers Gilberto F. and Richard F. Ojeda. She is survived by her son Karl A. Gonzalez, his wife Norma S. Gonzalez, her grandchildren Anthony A. Santos-Gonzalez and Julian C. Santos-Gonzalez, and her great-grandson Malakai C. Palmer Gonzalez, as well as her brother Ref ugio F. Ojeda and his wife Inez Ojeda.
Carmen was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 23, 1935. She graduated from Incarnate Word College on May 1958 with a BA in Education and began her educational career in Edgewood Independent School District. She then continued her education at Our Lady of the Lake University and graduated with a master’s degree in education while working as an educator. Shortly after, she was employed at San Antonio Independent Diagnostic Center, where she evaluated and wrote curricula for special education students in several schools within SAISD. She was an advocate for all students throughout her educational career.
In addition to being an educator, Carmen worked on weekends in her family's business, Ojeda’s Molino. She was a proud member of the American Business Women's Association.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She often gathered family for home-cooked meals as she truly enjoyed cooking and sharing some of her favorite recipes with her loved ones. Our hearts are saddened by our loss, but eternally grateful to have been a part of her amazing life.
