Kathleen Ann Hollas
Kathleen Ann Hollas, 71 years of age, of San Antonio, passed away at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio on June 17, 2026. Kathy was born in Ganado, Texas, in 1955 to Victoria and Bohdan “Buck” Janak. She grew up in Edna and Blessing, Texas, and graduated from Tidehaven High School in 1973, where she was a member of the Tiger band. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977. On August 4, 1979, she married Daniel Hollas at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing, Texas.
A dedicated registered nurse, she began her career in 1978 and worked in hospitals in Wharton, Texas, and Oxford, Mississippi, before moving with her family to San Antonio in 1988. That same year, she began working at Main Methodist Hospital, where she faithfully served until her retirement in 2022.
Kathy’s favorite hobbies and activities included trips to the beach, sewing, gardening, baking, attending live musical performances, and spoiling her five grandchildren. She was an active member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church from 1988 until her passing. She cherished her prayer and bible study groups at Saint Francis. At Saint Francis she served on numerous ACTS retreat teams, as a mass coordinator and hospitality minister, and as an officer and member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Kathy will be remembered for her dedication to her faith, family, friends, and patients. She had the heart of a servant and always thought of others before herself.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother Lawrence. She is survived by her husband Dan and her daughters Jill Burns and spouse Jeremy, Becky Johnson and spouse Tom, and Emily Assi and spouse Sara. She is also survived by her sisters Jeanette Allums, Rosemary Jackson, Mary Jo Patschke and brother Ron Janak. Surviving grandchildren are Ethan, Estelle and Elliot Johnson; Jackson and Jason Burns.'
