John Paul "Sean" Heeney, age 52, passed away on October 20, 2026. He was born on February 7, 1974, in San Antonio, Texas, to John "Jack" and Eileen Heeney.
Sean attended Catholic schools throughout his childhood and graduated from Central Catholic High School before earning his degree from St. Edward's University. He married Christina Lloyd, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas, where they began their life together before returning to San Antonio to raise their family.
Sean will be remembered for his quick wit, kind heart, and loyalty as a friend. He had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and supported, and he was simply an all-around great guy.
Sean is survived by his wife, Christina; his children, Emma Claire and Jack Donald; his mother, Eileen Heeney; and his sisters, Anna Marie Armand and Teresa Dipnarinesingh, and their families. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Jack.
Faith, family, and service to others were at the center of Sean's life. Giving back to the community and helping those around him were priorities he embraced wholeheartedly. A natural leader, Sean served as a Boy Scout leader and took immense pride in his children's accomplishments. Emma earned the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, and Jack achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Sean was deeply involved in Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) programs, where he coached and held numerous leadership roles over the years. He was also an active member and leader in the Knights of Columbus. His commitment to faith and service extended with the Boy Scouts of America, where he recently served on the Catholic Committee on Scouting.
Outside of his professional and volunteer commitments, Sean enjoyed cooking, including smoking brisket and just about any other cut of meat, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends. Whether hosting a gathering, sharing a meal, or enjoying a good conversation and laugh, Sean found joy in bringing people together.
Professionally, Sean spent 22 years with a legacy insurance carrier, with much of his career focused on Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and Major Case Investigation Unit (MCIU) work. He continued to develop his investigative expertise while helping protect customers and companies from fraud. In 2023, Sean received the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) Multi-Jurisdictional Award, which recognizes collaborative investigative efforts across multiple jurisdictions.
Sean's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the countless lives he touched through service, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
