Immigration Support Team
Through our membership in COPS (Communities Organized for Public Service)/ Metro Alliance, many of our parishioners attended the Field Hearing, “Examining the Community Impacts of Mass Deportation and Proposed ICE Warehouse” on Friday, October 2. Alongside elected officials, we heard testimonies from legal advocates and faith leaders about how ICE’s presence has already hurt families, workers, and US Citizens through violations of human and civil rights. Those attending from our parish, answered the call of Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller in his Pastoral Letter and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching to unite in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who live in fear each day. As the Body of Christ recognizing that every human being is a child of God and deserving of respect, we will organize an Immigration Support Team which will accompany our immigrant parishioners and respond to their needs. If you are interested in learning more about how you can respond to Jesus' call to welcome the stranger, please reach out to Carlos Jaén at carlos.roberto.jaen@gmail.com or Mario Escobedo meskitero@outlook.com, our Immigration Support Coordinators. Also, if you or someone in your family is in need of assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Carlos or Mario. If you haven’t yet, please read the Archbishop’s Pastoral Letter, We Will Come to You.
