Dcn. Johnny and Shirley Flores Bid Farewell

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,” (Philippians 1:3)

As many of you already know, my wife Shirley and I are leaving San Antonio at the end of April. We are moving to Fort Worth to be closer to our daughter and her family.

We have felt so blessed to be part of the St. Francis family these thirty years or so. You all have given us so much support, especially in these first five years of my diaconate. It’s very difficult to leave.

While Shirley and I certainly miss our Mississippi and Louisiana birthplaces, St. Francis has become home for us. We raised our kids here, we celebrated births here, and we’ve mourned deaths here. We will miss St. Francis so much!

But we trust in God’s plan for us and know that we will find a new parish family in Fort Worth with our children and grandchildren. We plan to visit once in awhile. Fort Worth isn’t that far away! So we aren’t saying goodbye, we’re saying see you later!

You have all be a blessing for us and we would like to leave you with this blessing from Psalm 20:

May the LORD grant your heart’s desire; may he bring all your plans to pass! Then we will shout for joy over your victory; we will rejoice in the name of our God! May the LORD grant all your requests!

- Psalm 20:4-5

Best wishes,

Dcn. Johnny and Shirley Flores
