Registration for children and youth Faith Formation classes will be held after all Masses on the weekends of August 20-21 and August 27-28. Late registrants may obtain forms via the website, in the Parish Office or Elementary Faith Formation Office.
*Elementary Faith Formation classes resume 13-14-15- of September, 2011.*
Our Elementary Faith Formation program serves children Kindergarten through 5th grade. Classes are held Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 4:30pm and 6:00pm beginning September 13, 14, 15, 2010. Each class session is one hour per week. At St. Francis we have chosen to use the Call to Faith Parish Curriculum. Call to Faith provides accurate and comprehensive content based on our Catholic doctrine, Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church presented in a manner that is child friendly and fun. In addition to the regular curriculum, we also have special lessons focusing on seasons and feasts of the liturgical year.
We believe that it is important for our children to receive a strong foundation in their Catholic and moral development. Children in our program are expected to maintain a good attendance record throughout the faith formation year. Please try to limit your child’s absences. In the event that a child should have to miss class you may make up the lesson by completing the chapter at home and returning the work to your child's teacher. At that time your child's absence will be cleared from the records. Please let us know if you have a special circumstance concerning attending classes so that we can take your needs into consideration.
Adult and teen volunteers are needed to serve as catechists, workroom support, substitutes and baby-sitters throughout the year. All adult volunteers will be required to have a criminal background check and OVASE training. New catechists will need to complete the Call to Faith curriculum training before classes begin. Additional training is provided to assists catechists in preparing themselves for the faith formation ministry.
It is never too late to register for faith formation. Children who move late in the school year are still invited to attend faith formation. If you are interested in joining our program as a student or volunteer, please contact Clair McCormick. |
