TO: ALL
COMMUNION MINISTERS WHO SERVE AT MASS
There are several areas that need addressing without the
need to have another massive training for all ministers.
All of what will be addressed is in the original directions which are
still posted in the Ministers Sign In Room.
- Purification
of vessels
- There
are two steps; purify and dry with a purificator and wash and dry.
- See
directions posted in 3 places in the Ministers work room.
- Dress
- Father
Jim has specifically asked that we come in appropriate clothing to serve.
It would be a good idea to come ready to serve every time you come
to Mass.
- Where
to Stand when you are waiting to receive communion.
- A3
should be directly in front of the AMBO (that is the table from which the
Word of God is read). All
other ministers should be as close to that area as possible with the C
ministers immediately adjacent to A3.
Diagrams in Sign In Room state this clearly.
- Be
sure you know where you are to position yourself for communion and during
the breaking of the bread and pouring of the wine.
- When
to come forward to serve.
- Move
to the altar area after you offer the sign of peace to no more than 2
people. Don’t wait for
others to move.
- Wine
and Choir
- Before
consuming the remainder of your wine be sure the Choir has been served
wine.
- When
you return to the credence table and are finishing the blood of Christ
FACE THE ALTAR to consume. Do
not walk and drink.
- Contact
with Communicant
- Take
care when pressing the bread into the Communicant’s hand so that the
bread does not crumble and become a pile of crumbs.
Continue to make that contact just be very careful.
Some of our bread tends to crumble easily.
- SUBSTITUTES
-
PLEASE if you are not able to come on your assigned day get a
substitute. If that is not
possible contact the coordinator for your Mass.
- There
are many ministers who are not doing this and that makes for a very
difficult job for the coordinator. PLEASE
PLEASE!
- ARRIVAL
TIME
- Please
arrive 15-20 minutes before Mass and sign in so the Coordinator isn't
looking for people at the last minute.
- Unassigned
Ministers
- If
you are not assigned please stop and see the coordinator of the Mass and
let them know you are available and what section you will be sitting in.
