Library Mission Statement

The St. Francis of Assisi Parish Library formed in 1980, nine months after the parish was founded, is a gift to young and old alike.  The library offers print and electronic media to enhance your journey of faith.

 The library pledges to:

  • Feed the hungry with good food for the soul through spiritual authors and audio and visual inspirations.

  • Offer quality, values-based reading and viewing materials for our children.

  • Make available print and electronic media for our middle and high school youth.

  • Open new avenues of understanding in families with materials that have a focus all along the road of life, from birth through death.

  • Serve as a resource to ministers throughout the parish.

  • Provide in-depth scripture and theology materials.

  • Connect St. Francis of Assisi Parish to the greater church and church history through pictures and writings.

  • Be responsive to the developmental needs of all walking the path to eternal life.

  Policy on donating books:

The St. Francis Library welcomes donations.  Due to a lack of space, however, we ask that all materials be Christian - preferably Catholic - based.  Any donated materials that cannot be utilized as part of the library collection will be sold to a used bookstore, donated to a non-profit agency or destroyed if the information is no longer relevant or it is incorrect (i.e., a 1980 encyclopedia set).  Profits from the sale of donated books will be used for future library purchases.

The library does hold a used book sale at least once a year.  At that time we will accept all donations!!

Tiber River – Catholic Book reviews.  From the Tiber River website, “The core service of Tiber River is to provide an evaluation and recommendation service that deals with in-print books that claim to be Catholic or have a Catholic interest.  Evaluations are an objective presentation of facts about the book measured against the teachings of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church (the pope in union with the bishops), and are completed by qualified individuals and experts on the subject matter of the title being evaluated.”
